Jammu, Feb 15: Two day Social Liabilities Towards Disable Persons Awareness Programme cum Homes Visit organised by International Volunteer Foundation (IVF) J&K and Indian Red Cross Society, District Branch Jammu wherein 15 dedicated volunteers from schools and colleges participated with great enthusiasm and paid visit to Residential School For Blinds at Roop Nagar, Home For Handicapped Persons at Udhaywala, Mother Teresa Home For Sick & Dying Destitutes, New Plot, Sri Rama Krishna Mission, Udhaywala and CHILDLINE Jammu during the first day of the programme. On the second day, they will visit Old Age Home, Bal Niketan, Amphalla, School For Hearing Handicapped Children, Saheedi Chowk and Home For Mentally Challenged Children, Channi Rama. The inmates of the Blind School displayed their talent in music, sports and academics stunned the volunteers with their performances and achievements. The motive behind organising the programme is to orient the youth of social liabilities towards disable persons through homes/schools visit. The management brief the volunteers about the working of their respective homes, services provided to the needy and poor people, challenges faced by them in running the home, problems of the inmates and encouraged the young volunteers to get associated with this noble cause to serve the humanity and develop the spirit of volunteerism. The volunteers were provided with an opportunity to see the infrastructure of the homes, to interact with the inmates, to know their grievances, etc. So that these young volunteers will provide their valuable services for their well being in future. The volunteers acknowledged the management of the services being provided by the newly opened District Disability Rehabilitation Centre at Shastri Nagar which is being managed by Indian Red Cross Society. |
