BJP shows thumb to Jammu, NC supports its movement for AIIMS
Very interesting

Early Times report

JAMMU, Apr 25: Politics in Jammu has changed. Those who repeatedly stabbed Jammu from the back between October 1947 and December 2014 have started playing the Jammu card and those who seemingly stood for and fought for the "just" Jammu cause and national cause have started taunting, ridiculing and humiliating the people of Jammu province, despite the fact that they are there in the government because of the support of Jammu. It is not an exaggeration; it is statement of fact, which is easily verifiable.
On Friday, when the people of Jammu province observed a massive bandh to register their protest against the decision of the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre and the PDP-BJP coalition government in the State and brought everything in the province to a grinding halt, two developments took place, one was disturbing and the other was inspiring. The BJP on the day of massive bandh showed its thumb to Jammu and declared without mincing words that the AIIMS belonged to Kashmir and it will not allow any force to snatch it from the Valley. "There is no question of snatching AIIMS from Kashmir and giving it to Jammu. Opposition National Conference and Congress are creating a regional divide between the two regions of the state.
NC and Congress both are trying to create regional divide in the state in a bid to serve their political interests. We will not allow that to happen. We take Jammu and Kashmir as one entity and the AIIMS is being given to the state and not to any region…The government would leave no stone unturned in ensuring quality healthcare for Jammu.
We can strive and pitch for AIIMS in Jammu as well. It is a good thing if both Jammu and Kashmir gets the vital institute like AIIMS…" said Deputy Chief Minister and BJP senior leader Nirmal Singh during an interview to a news gathering agency. He clearly told those who organized bandh and declared that they would intensify the struggle for AIIMS in case their demand was not conceded that the BJP would defeat their movement to ensure that the proposed AIIMS was established in the Valley. What he said was inconsistent with the party's stand on the social, economic and political status of Jammu province within the state or under the Kashmiri-dominated successive governments in the State.
Interestingly, on the day of bandh, the main opposition NC, which is essentially-Kashmir-based and Valley-centric and which supported the bandh call and did something to make bandh a success, also submitted a memorandum to Governor NN Vohra on the issue. "We support AIIMS for Kashmir, but not at the cost of Jammu," NC leader and former Finance Minister Abdur Rahim Rather was quoted as saying. Rather led a delegation of his party leaders to Governor NN Vohra and sought AIIMS for Jammu and reversal of anti-youth new recruitment policy of PDP-BJP government. "NC has no problem with AIIMS in the state, but the government should keep in mind that shifting such a facility from one region to another will only trigger resentment and hatred. The state government should go for 'equal development' of all regions of the state so that 'advanced' health facilities are made available to people," he was also quoted as saying.
Why is the BJP taking a stand that has the potential of destroying it not only in Jammu and Kashmir but also in other parts of the country? Why has it turned anti-Jammu? Is there none in the BJP who could stem the rot in the party? Who is advising the local BJP leadership to say what the Deputy Chief Minister said? Has the BJP national leadership approved of the hegemonic politics of the Kashmir Valley and make the people of Jammu province, especially the minorities, to meet the fate the minorities in Pakistan and Bangladesh suffered? The BJP has to answer these questions.
