BCC Bulls lifts PPCPL tournament cup

JAMMU, May 1: The closing ceremony of Police Public Cricket Premier League (PPCPL) was held in Cricket Ground Science College Jammu. Simula Dr. Nirmal Kumar Singh, Dy. Chief Minister was the chief guest on the occasion and K.Rajendra Kumar DGP J&K was the guest of honour.
The chief guest applauded the efforts of J&K Police for organizing such a mega sports event in which young cricketers from all over the state have been provided a platform.
Dy. Chief Minister congratulated the winning team. The DGP also commended the role of police in involving young generation in sports activities to keep them away from social evils. He also said that the motive behind organizing this tournament is to bridge the gap between police and public and to promote sports culture. During the tournament 10 teams participated Simula Superstars, Jammu Khalsa Kings-XI, Jammu Royal Choice XIIshar Daredevils,Chenab Tigers Bhaderwah, Chenab Gas Royals Jammu, BCC Bulls Banihal, Kashmir Steel Warriors JKP Tigers and Banihal Night Rider in which BBC Bulls Banihal and Simula Superstars reached in the final fight.
Among the senior officers Dr. S.P.Vaid, ADGP Hqrs. PHQ, Dilbag Singh, MD PHC, H.K.Lohia, IGP Tech. PHQ, Shri Danesh Rana IGP Jammu Zone, Yoginder Koul IGP Sham Lal Sharma IGP, Shakeel Ahmed Beig, DIG Jammu, Ashkoor Wani DIG Traffic, Pawan Gupta Director Prosecution PHQ and others were present on the occasion.
In the final of the tournament Simula Superstars won the toss and elected to bat first. Simula Superstars set a target of 137 runs at the loss of 04 wickets in scheduled 15 overs including highest of 51 runs by Drub Mahajan and Hiulal Rather 29. Rompy of BCC Bulls took two wickets, Amir and Satish one each. In reply BCC Bulls chased well and defeated Simula Superstars by 04 wickets with highest score 49 runs by Amir Sofi and Amir Haroon 39 runs. Amir Sofi was declared man of the match.
At the end the chief guest gave away the cash prizes and trophies to the winning team and outstanding players. A cheque bearing cash prize of Rs.5.00 lacs was awarded to BCC Bulls, Rs.3.00 lacs to Simula Superstarts runners up, Rs.2.00 lacs to Chenab Gas Royals 3rd rank and Jammu Khalsa Kings-XI Rs.1.50 lacs. Man of the Series Cash prize of Rs.50,000/- and trophy was awarded to Bandeep Singh of Chenab Gas Royals, A cash prize of Rs.25,000/- alongwith trophies each was awarded to Amit Sharma of Simullar Superstarts who was declared Best batsman of the tournament and Amir Sofi who was Best Bowler of the tournament.
All the matches of the tournament were conducted under the able umpiring done by BCCI empanelled umpires namely Sudhir Singh, Saleem-Ur-Rehman, Amit Gupta, Sadiq Hussain Malik, J.D. Singh and Harvinder Singh.
