Party has no grievance cell, Mantris have no letterheads | BJP Ministers leave party bearers, people fuming | | Fazal Khan Early Times Report Srinagar, May 29: As the PDP-BJP government in Jammu and Kashmir is all set to complete its 100-days in office the BJP is yet to set up its grievance cell where common people and the party workers can go with their issues. BJP ministers remaining inaccessible have added to the woes of people who want their grievances to be redressed. Sources told Early Times that party had recently asked one of its office bearers to head the grievance cell in Kashmir but he turned down the offer saying, "I am not sure whether our ministers would honour my recommendations are not as there is too much of leg pulling going on within the party." The BJP Ministers, sources said, have not even got their letter heads printed and if someone approaches them for any help he has to return empty handed as ministers have no letter heads to give a recommendation letter. "It's unfortunate that BJP ministers are not even aware about the basics of public dealing. People returning disappointed from the doors of ministers has triggered resentment in both the regions," they added. Sources said that BJP ministers have not even placed the picture of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi or the party president Amit Shah in their office chambers in the civil secretariat here. "It's height of insensitivity on the part of the Ministers. It's a tradition all over the country that Ministers place the pictures of their leaders in their respective office chambers," they added. Pertinently, the ministers had not even placed their name plates outside their office chambers in the civil secretariat here. The independent MLA Er Rasheed embarrassed the coalition government earlier this month by appearing in the civil secretariat here and placing name plates outside the office chambers of the Ministers. Er Rasheed's "publicity stunt" had left the government red faced. Sources said that BJP ministers being in disarray has put the local leaders in Kashmir in a tight spot as they have promised moon and stars to the people whom the have roped in as BJP members during the party's membership drive in Kashmir. "We had assured people that soon after Durbar would reopen in Srinagar we would take up all their issues with our ministers. Unfortunately they (ministers) have let us down and they don't seem to have anytime for the people or even the BJP workers," said a BJP party bearer. He said, "Our ministers are unaware about the ground situation. They don't come out of their office chambers and if we try to reach them their personal staff informs us that they are busy in meetings." It is in place to mention here that the BJP high command had organized a conditioning camp for the party ministers at Katra in Jammu region earlier this month. The aim of the camp was to "teach basics of governance and public dealing to the ministers." A critic while talking to Early Times said, "It seems conditioning camp has not helped the cause of the ministers and they have not learnt anything." The critic suggested that high command should asses the performance of the BJP ministers and should show door to the non-performing politicians so that younger people in the party are given a chance to lead from the front. "It's strange that despite PDP and BJP having equal number of seats, the BJP is acting as a junior partner in the coalition," he added. |
