Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 6: Pointing towards alleged callousness and huge corruption in permitting higher secondary education in staff and infrastructure deficient private schools, 20 private schools have registered zero percent results in the recently declared 12th class results of the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE).
What could be termed as heart warming for the state education department is the fact that against 20 private schools, just two government schools namely Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Camp Nagrota in Jammu District and Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Panassa in Reasi district have registered zero percent result. 9 government schools failed to register pass percentage of 10 percent or more.
These include Government Higher School Jindrah (8 percent), Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Shein in Bishnah (9 percent), Government Higher Secondary School Dhargloon (7 percent) and Government Higher Secondary School Ghani (5 percent) and GHSS Mankote (6 percent) in Poonch, Govt Girls Higher Secondary School (GGHSS) in Mendhar (9 percent), GHSS Khawas (7 percent) and Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Thial (5 percent) Ramnagar.
On being compared with this, private schools have not only shown disappointing performance but serious questions have cropped up for huge fee being charged by them. 20 private schools have registered zero pass percentage. These include 17 schools which are located in and around Jammu city. Bishnah has two private schools with zero pass percentage, R.S.Pura has one, Khour has one and one school in Reasi has registered zero pass percentage.
The schools in and around Jammu city which have registered zero pass percentage include The Daffodils Higher Secondary School, New Ashoka Higher Secondary School, Shiva Public, Gandhi Memorial, Adarsh Shiksha Niketan, Coventry Scholars, Dewan Devi Public School, Dr. Ambedkar Convent School, Harminder Public School, New Blooming Bud, Shobha Modal, Galaxy Higher Secondary School, Bhartiya Shiksha Kendra and Magotra Modern Academy.
Two schools in Bishnah which have scored zero include Bal Bhartiya Shiksha Kendra and Prince Doll Higher Secondary School. Faiz Public School in R.S.Pura, Rainbow Modern School in Khour and Calvary Mission School in Reasi are five other schools which have registered zero pass percentage in 12th class results declared by Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education on May 20, 2015. 16 days have passed since the results were declared and government is yet to take note of this.
None of these 22 private schools have been served notices nor have they been asked to explain reasons for their dismal performance. On the contrary, lecturers and teachers are penalised for bad results. Private schools remain untouched despite miserably failing to produce good results. If the number of students appearing from private and government schools are compared, 13430 students appeared from the private schools and managed a pass percentage of 63 percent.
While as double of this number i.e. around 27965 students appeared in the 12th class examination from the government schools but they secured a pass percentage of 42 percent. If the numbers are compared, government higher secondary schools have secured much better pass percentage than the private aided schools. State government would have to answer as to why not withdraw permission to the private schools to admit students in classes above 10th which have secured either zero percent or less than 10 percent pass percentage in the recently declared 12th class results.
