Early Times Report
Jammu, June 18: The list of special invitees for purposed governing body meeting of Mubarak Mandi Jammu Heritage Society (MMJHS) comprises mostly of the members of the Coordination Committee of the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Sources informed Early Times that Governing body of MMJHS has nine official members including Chief Minister as Chairman, while Tourism Minister as Executive Committee chairman and 13 non official members, besides some special invitees, of departments related to preservation of heritage.
"The proposed meeting, which was earlier postponed twice in last few months, is to be held at the Banquet Hall of Chief Minister's Residence at 3 PM in Jammu on June 19 in which Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh, Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu, Education Minister Naem Akhtar, MOS Education Priya Sethi, MLA Jammu West constituency Satpal Sharma, MLC Ashok Khajuria, MLC Ajatshatru Singh, MLC Vikramaditya Singh beside some others have been invited", sources informed.
They said that generally not any other minister rather than Tourism Minister and Chief Minister, were invited for the meeting, but it was still unclear on whose directions, all these ministers have been invited for the Governing body meet.
One of the member of MMJHS alleged that not a single member of Technical Advisory Committee for preservation of Mubark Mandi have been invited for the meeting.
He further informed that it was also unclear, who finalized the agenda for the governing body meeting of MMJHS.
"The Executive Committee of MMJHS finalized the agenda and put before the Governing body's meeting but for the last nearly 10 months no such meeting was held and who has finalized the agenda, it is not known", another member said.
They further added that the last meeting of Executive Committee was held in the month of August and was chaired by Executive Director, Rohit Khajuria. "It was merely an introductory meeting as, the Executive Director had joined in the month of July and in August he had interacted with all executive committee members. Not a single meeting of Executive Committee was held in last ten months and it is still unknown who finalized the agenda for the governing body meeting", sources questioned.
Raising a finger over attitude of government towards preservation of Mubarak Mandi heritage, the members alleged that the proposed governing body's meeting would once again prove to be an eye-wash and no concrete decision would be taken for preservation and completion of renovation work, which was already missed many deadlines.
The Executive Director of MMJHS, Rohit Khajuria said that the agenda of meeting was finalized on the approval of Chairman. "Tourism Ministry's portfolio is under Chief Minister and on his approval agenda has been finalized," he said.
On being questioned about delay in holding the meetings of Executive Committee, he said that Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, was head of Executive Committee of MMJHS, so the decision to hold meeting was to be taken by him.
When further questioned about not sending of invitation to Technical Advisory Committee, Khajuria said that virtually there was no such committee in place. "When Gulchain Singh Charak was chairman of committee, he had nominated some engineers for giving technical advice but there was no government order for committee's constitution. If there would be any such government order, new committee must have been constituted but it is not", he said.
He further said that any member of committee could easily send suggestion to Chairman for incorporating particular issue in the agenda but so far no member has send any such suggestion.
