Medico who attacked media houses in 2007 at Singh's behest gets plum posting
Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 18: The senior Congress leader, who changed his loyalty, for the sake of power and joined Bharatiya Janata Party, Chaudary Lal Singh, after taking over as the Health Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, has ensured that his own men hold key positions. Recently the Health Minister rewarded his "chamcha (yes man)," with a plum posting.
Sources told Early Times Lal Singh soon after taking over as the Health Minister elevated Dr Sandeep Singh to the post of Registrar sports injury Rehabilitation Centre J&K Paramedical/Nursing Council.
It is in place to mention here that Dr Sandeep Singh along with a few other goons, mostly auto drivers, had attacked the news paper offices in Jammu city on August 7 in 2007 for reporting his boss (Chaudary Lal Singh) had to face the brickbats from protesters at Bilawar for abusing them.
The goons led by Dr Sandeep Singh had threatened the editorial staff of the Early Times on Aug 7, 2007 of dire consequences for reporting Lal Singh faced humiliation at the hands of people.
Dr Sandeep Singh, according to the sources, has been in the good books of Chaudary Lal Singh for a long time and soon after taking charge the Health Minister went out of way to honour is "hench man" with the prize posting of Registrar. It's strange the doctor who should have been suspended for taking law into his own hands and threatening the media houses, including Early Times, Amar Ujala and Dainik Jagran, has enjoyed political patronage during all these years. He getting out of turn promotion for indulging in hooliganism came to fore recently rest how he (Dr Sandeep Singh) managed to reach the top is still a closely guarded secret.
The Health Minister patronizing goons has punctured the tall claims of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi about providing neat and clean administration and wiping out corruption from the system. One hopes that BJP high command takes the note of the activities of the Health Ministers and his aides before it becomes too late.
It may be recalled that the then Member Parliament Chaudary Lal Singh had entered into a scuffle with people who were protesting against the frequent power cuts at Bilawal on August 1, 2007. The protesters went berserk after then Congress MP Lal Singh used abusive language against them. Irritated by the behavior of then MP Lal Singh people threw shoes and sandals on the MP which led to a scuffle. The media persons covering the incident were also allegedly attacked by Lal Singh and he allegedly snatched the cameras of the photo journalists who were discharging their professional duties.
Lal Singh and his then MLA wife Kanta Andotra had to run to reach the PWD guest house at Billawar as protesters did not allow their cars to pass through.
The incident had hogged the headlines and most Jammu based news papers reported the humiliation which the then Congress MP faced.
Infuriated at media highlighting the incident a few supporters of Lal Singh led by Dr Sandeep Singh, who was recently appointed as Registrar sports injury Rehabilitation Centre J&K Paramedical/Nursing Council, appeared outside the offices of the newspapers which had reported the incident and burnt their copies and threatened media men of dire consequences if they dared to raise their voice against Lal Singh again.
