Early Times Report

Jammu, July 22: Expressing his grave concern over the misappropriation of monthly cash assistance to KP migrant relief holders, Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC) president, Shadi Lal Pandita demanded a CBI probe in fraud migrant ration cards who are getting cash assistance as monthly relief causing great loss to state exchequer.
To ascertain the actual number of migrants under relief category, Pandita demanded that government should initiate a CBI probe in the fraud migrant ration cards which should be cancelled immediately and the savings thereby be diverted to enhance further the monthly cash assistance to the tune of Rs. 25000/- per month to relief holders as present monthly cash assistance is insufficient to a family. He appealed Relief Commissioner to ensure district wise list of actual migrant relief holders on line to put a check on misappropriation of funds, he added. Taking a dig at administration JTC president said that authorities have failed to maintain smooth water supply to the Jagti camp. He said during monsoon or even local rains the water supply scheme goes defunct and water supply to the camp remain affected for weeks together. He reiterated that a tube well be dug in the centre of Jagti camp so that the water supply to the camp may not get affected and inhabitants of the camp face no water shortage.
Lambasting state government for its total failure in rehabilitating KPs in valley Pandita said that the rehabilitation plans of KPs has been kept in cold storage. The construction of satellite townships was a political gimmick only. The reality is that government has totally failed to maintain law and order in the valley. Presence of dreaded militant group ISSI is an alarming bell and the govt must awaken from the slumber by now and deal with anti national forces with an iron hand, Pandita added.
