Removal of security to PRP cause of concern for democratic forces
7/22/2015 11:55:11 PM
Early Times Report

Srinagar, July 22: State Government has exposed the Peoples Republican Party (PRP) leaders who contested last year's Assembly poll to strengthen the democracy in the strife -torn State by rejecting the gun culture which ruled the roost for decades together in Kashmir Valley to security risk by withdrawing the security cover to its other leaders also today.
This has evoked a wide spread resentment among the nationalistic parties in the State who have accused both Central and State Government of playing with the lives of the innocent people. They while expressing resentment over the Government decision demanded that the political leaders be given fool proof security in the Valley in view of intensification of militancy in the State.
The leaders of various leftist parties as well as centralist and right wing organizations have expressed their serious concern over the decision of the Government saying this way the people who have tried to strengthen nationalist forces in Valley are deliberately being exposed to security risk by the Government. The leaders of these parties while expressing total solidarity with PRP leadership warned Government that it will be responsible in case any untoward happened with any leader of the Party who were assured all help and support by the leadership which is at the helm of affairs.
The leaders said this way the people will lose entire faith in the Government when it does not care for those leaders who took an onus to themselves to unfurl the flag of peace in the Valley by challenging those who are inimical to peace.
They said these leaders needed every sort of support and help by both Union and State government so that the struggle for restoration of peace and brotherhood can be strengthened in Valley and more and more people join the mainstream by taking on the forces inimical to peace process. If such will be the fate of the leaders who took an onus in strengthening peace process in the State, the common man will keep himself miles away from such a process, they added.
They said the restoration of peace is not only possible by PDP or NC but they need support of all the right thinking people and organizations of the State irrespective of their ideology and objective. By strengthening such forces and making the movement for restoration of peace a broad based in Valley is only alternative to the crush the forces who are inimical to peace and who dance to the tune of Pakistan and other agencies, they added.
They said however neither PDP-BJP nor the NC and Congress during their rule gave an attention to it but only tired to harass their political opponents at the cost of larger national interests in the State. It is high time for the leadership of main political parties in the State including ruling coalition and opposition NC-Congress to create a consensus on the issue by joining hands with CPI (M), CPI, NPP, Peoples Conference as well as PRP and other smallest groups interested in strengthening democratic process in the State and given a challenge to the forces inimical to peace process in the Valley. This will also give a confidence to common man in the Valley who in turn will take on forces inimical to peace process and detractors of Kashmiris. With the support of masses the handful anti social and anti-national elements will not dare in future to waive ISIS and Pakistani flags in Kashmir.
But unfortunately neither the leaders at Delhi nor those who ruled the State for last 19 years could understand it with the result the forces inimical to peace got strengthened in Valley day by day.
Instead of removing security to PRP leadership the Government should have increased it and given them a moral support to strengthen the democratic process in the Valley. Such a step would have worked in larger national interests, the leaders of some main stream organizations opined.
