jammu, Aug 26: The confessional statement of Mohammad Naveed, the Pak terrorist of LeT outfit, who was captured alive by two villagers after the Udhampur terror attack in which his accomplice was by gunned down by BSF personnel in an encounter near Udhampur, was today recorded in the court of chief judicial magistrate, Udhampur. He was produced in the court amid tight security and it took him four hours to record his statement. Immediately after his statement was recorded, NIA moved an application, seeking his judicial remand. CJM Sunnet Gupta, after going through the application filed by SSP Atul Goel, CIO NIA, seeking permission to keep Naveed in judicial custody, observed that since the offences attributed to the accused were quite serious in nature, he was not found entitled for bail at this stage of investigation. The CJM observed that as per the investigating agency they did not require Naveed's custody any more at least at this stage of the investigation and it would have no objection if he was sent to judicial custody. He said keeping in view the prayer made by the investigating agency, the accused was ordered to be sent to judicial custody for 10 days and he shall be produced before the competent court on September 4, 2015. Till then, he be sent to Kot-Bhalwal jail, the judge ordered.(JNF) |
