| 'Dead man' walking: Bhaderwah man shown 'dead' in records running for Justice | | | Mohd Majid Malik

Bhaderwah, Aug 26: In a weird and unusual incident of 'dead man walking', a 50 -year-old Abdul Rashid resident of village Shaban Mohara of Bhaderwah is running from pillar to post to get him declared alive in official records.
A resident of W-3 Gorakha, Bhaderwah of Doda district, the Abdul Rashid has been deprived of all schemes launched by Rural Development Department (RDD) since 2011 because he was declared "dead" in official records of department and her wife Suryia Begum has been declared a widow.
In this connection the victim also registered FIR in the bungling and misappropriation of funds by then RDD officials and employees but till date he is running from pillar to post for justice.
When Abdul Rashid tried to find the reason of stopping of work to him by RDD, Bhaderwah through RTI application, he found himself a shell shocked as he found himself declared as "dead" by the authorities and works were shown in her wife name as widow of Abdul Rashid.
"I and my family were shocked to read the RTI reply from the concerned authorities. "How an authority can declare an individual dead and his wife as widow, look I am very much alive?" Abdul Rashid asked while pointing to himself while cursing the Rural Development authorities
."From four years, I have been making rounds of government offices for justice and inquiry in the fraudulent works of Rural Development Department in my village but none is ready to listen me, he said and alleged that in the official records of RDD some dead people are shown alive and MGNREGA payments were also withdrawn in the name of minor children on master Rolls.
Abdul Rashid also alleged large scale bungling in the execution of MGNREGA and other works in village Shaban Mohara W-3 Gorakha, Bhaderwah in year 2011-12 and 2012-13.
In a written complaint he also had alleged that the works which have been shown executed and paid, in the Shaban Mohra W-3, were executed only on papers. He informed that last year he registered FIR things still are in same line and further demanded immediate probe in the works executed in his panchayat in year 2011-12 and 2012-13.He also alleged that Rs 10 lakhs were withdrawn fraudulently from government exchequer against some works which never have been executed while the department also had mentioned villagers' names who are not the residents of this village.
He also regretted that he had brought these irregularities and misappropriation to the previous state government, RDD minister and investigating agencies but no action has been taken till date. He now looks toward to the Chief Minister Mufti Mohd Sayeed to order an inquiry into the misappropriation of government funds in Shaban Mohra Panchayat Gorakha |
