Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 2: Taking cognizance of a news item published in Early Times under the caption "Imposter GRP cop pose PA to IGP Jammu, grabs Rs 80,000 from SPO", GRP IGP Suliman Salaria directed his SSP to take stringent action against the accused cop.
The IGP has directed SSP GRP Pulwama Zahid Manhas to go tough against the accused cop Manzoor Ahmed Haji having belt no 747 who duped Rs 80,000 from a SPO on pretext of getting him regularized.
Suliman, speaking to Early Times, said that the amount to be realized from the accused cop from his GPF to restore the same to the victim cop. He also assured departmental action against the erring cop who is already facing two departmental inquiries following which his salary is withheld by the department for the last three months.
Pertinently, ET in its September 1 issue had published that a cop posted in Government Railway Police (GRP) posing himself as PA to IGP Jammu duped Rs 80,000 from Special Police Officer (SPO) on the pretext of getting him regularized.
The incident took place couple of weeks ago when SPO Jewan Lal son of Om Prakash, posted in police station Dacchan, Kishtwar, who had come to Jammu in connection with his personal work met with constable Manzoor Ahmed Haji having belt no 747 posted with GRP Pulwama at Bhagwati Nagar.
The later posing himself as PA to IGP Jammu induced SPO to deliver Rs 55,000 for getting him regularized as constable in police as first instalment and second instalment of Rs 25000 was later transferred to A/C No 3154 of one Riyaz Ahmed Waghey of Pulwama Kashmir.
The SPO who paid the amount after raising loan later realized that he had been duped by the said constable as the very constable is already faced with the number of departmental inquiries. This particular matter is also in the notice of the senior police officers.
