JAMMU, Oct 2 : Alleging irregularities in charging of Quality Assurance Fund by Directorate of Internal Quality Assurance (DIQA), the Jammu Students Morcha (JSM) has demanded audit of the department for the last six years. Addressing media persons here today, state president JSM Vikram Kumar said that DIQA has been charging Rs 135 per student as Quality Assurance Fund. He further said that inspite of collecting huge fund every year from students; it was still unknown, where the fund has been used. According to official website of DIQA, it has been maintained in the objectives and functions that the collected QA fund would be used to undertake, intervention strategies for encouraging self-evaluation, accountability, continual improvement in all the system procedure beside many other functions, but on ground level, the net result was nil. He further alleged that in the achievements and activities the department has shown that, the department has to conduct training and development for faculty, officers, non-teaching staff of University and Principals and teachers of the affiliated colleges of the University but all turned into a farce. "Even the department has also written that the fund is supposed to be used for placements, fellowships, career education fairs beside numerous other functions, but we want to ask the University authorities that how many placement drives have been conducted in languages departments including Dogri, Punjabi, Urdu, English and other Social Studies department", he questioned. Demanding special audit of the funds and the department, JSM president appealed Chancellor of Jammu University to intervene in the matter, so that truth would be ascertained. |
