Srinagar, Oct 2: Tight security measures have been put in place for the autumn session of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislature beginning tomorrow.
" Para-military forces are being deployed for security duties in and around the legislature premises apart from the specials squads of the police," one of the senior police officer told Early Times.
He said that as part of measures, additional CCTV cameras are being installed to keep a close watch on movement of every person in the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly.
He added that Police personnel in civvies have also been posted at several places to keep track on the movement of suspicious people.
IGP Kashmir Javaid Geelani said that security around the Civil Secretariat, which also houses Assembly complex, has been beefed up. "All the arrangements are in place to run the session smoothly," he told Early Times.
Meanwhile, sources said that the Assembly Speaker Kavinder Gupta reviewed the security arrangements at a high-level meeting held here on Friday.
Sources said that he has directed police to ensure foolproof security to all legislators and also in and around the Legislature premises.
Sources said that police has decided that no ordinary visitor will be allowed into the Assembly or the Council during the session, Legislature.
It is pertinent to mention here that, there will be only seven sittings in the autumn session. The government business will be taken up on October 3, 5, 7 and 9. October 10 has been reserved for the private member Bill, if any.
