Jammu, Oct 2: No sooner the Women Cell that used to function at Canal Head road shifted to Gandhinagar police station, the vacant building behind has been left not less than a red light zone for flesh trading.
It may sound bizarre, but the building that once housed a cell looking after the women care, now openly and brazenly providing sojourns to sex-hungry high-ups who have made it a brothel protected under the cops' cover in the dead of night.
"It has become a safe haven for the sex-mongers who bring their haul to the building while greasing the palms of a sub-inspector and spend enjoyable hours without any ado," said one of the police official in the lower rung who feared not to be named to lose his job.
He said that he is non-conclusive as to how the information of such act of blasphemy could be delineated to the top cops.
The modus operandi adopted by the Sub-Inspector to fleece his customers inside the Women Cell is quite interesting as he makes a known matador owner to park his vehicle just at the mouth of the Old Women Cell gate to avoid suspicion.
" In the morning, the place is utilized by the police personnel and traffic cops manning the area as the resting place , while as soon as it dusks, high-profile vehicles line up around the building with top money-payer getting the priority," said the police official.
He also deliberated that liquor too is smuggled inside the building along with the girls who make-merry the whole night and sneak out as soon as the dawn breaks around 4 a.m. in the morning.
It is relevant to mention here that sources privy to such women cell-turned-whorehouse say that since the moving out of the office from canal head, the place has been seen upon suspiciously also by the nearby and adjacent residents who have smelled a rat from past some time.
Evening walkers in adjacent Rajinder Park too echo the same concern of an illegitimate exercise being held in the erstwhile Women Cell that mounts to bringing shame and ignominy to the society.
"Often while on a routine evening walk, I and many other of my co -walkers have noticed some suspicious activities in and around the Old Women Cell where the luxurious cars often come to screeching halts and people alighting and moving in and out of the cell. Some girls too have been noticed which established our suspicion of foul play," said Jaipal Singh, 35, a daily evening walker in the area.
Sources too confirmed that the police official involved in brothel-running has some clandestine links at various political, bureaucratic and even some senior army personnel level who too are the beneficiaries of sex, fun and crime.
Administration's ignorance on the women cell-turned-whorehouse under its very nose, thus gives the ample evidence of the failed governance in the state. |
