JAMMU, Oct 2 : To mark the 1st anniversary of "Swacch Bharat Abhiyan" which was commenced on September 26 culminated here today on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Father of the Nation. The Jammu Development Authority (JDA) organised an awareness programme at Maharaja Hari Singh Park on the occasion of first anniversary of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan launched on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Lal Bahadur Shastri. Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy CM appealed the people to cooperate with JMC in keeping the city clean, green and free from pollution. The week-long awareness campaign on 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan', started on September 26, 2015, concluded on Gandhi Jyanti. We should take a pledge to keep our mind, soul and society free from impure elements and lead a happy life, he added. The Jammu Marathon started from Satwari Chowk and culminated at Floriculture park near Rotary Club, Gandhi Nagar. The students of various educational institutions including Govt. Polytechnic College, Jammu, Delhi Public School, Jammu, Govt. College for Women, Parade, Alexander Memorial High School, Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School, Canal Road, Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School, Rehari, Boys Model Middle School Satwari, Primary School Nai Basti, Govt. Higher Secondary School, Sarwal, Govt. Higher Secondary School, Paloura, Raina Higher Secondary School, Paloura, Govt. Higher Secondary School, Bakshi Nagar, Govt. (Girls) Higher Secondary School, Canal Road, Dreamland Public School, Govt. (Boys) Higher Secondary School, Gandhi Nagar, Ranbir Higher Secondary School, Govt. (Girls) Higher Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, Govt. Higher Secondary School, Channi Himmat, Govt. Higher Secondary School, Sunjwan, Govt. Higher Secondary School, Satwari, Govt. Higher Secondary School, Jammu Cantt, Shiksha Niketan, Jeevan Nagar and Navyug High School, Paloura, besides citizens of Jammu participated in the marathon with courage and enthusiasm. In connection with 1st anniversary of Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, Privartan NGO organized a cleanness drive here today. The drive was conducted under a month long clean Jammu city abhiyaan to mark the 1st Anniversary of "Swachh Bharat Abhiyan", in which a large number of volunteers participated. While addressing the gathering, President Parivartan, NGO Vikas Sharma emphasized that it is the duty of everyone to contribute in the ongoing awareness programme for making the Jammu Clean. Shakti Punj observed Gandhi Jayanti by organizing Swach Bharat Abhiyan here in the town and Jasmergarh fort of Hiranagar. Volunteers of Shakti Punj, conducted massive cleanliness drive at Subash Chander Chowk, opposite Shanta Nand mandir, near Mini Stadium Hiranagar , opposite tehsil headquarter, municipal committee Hiranagar and Jasmerharh fort of Hiranagar. Safai karmcharis of Municipal Committee Hiranagar with their president Mangal Dass actively participated in the drive. |
