14 gamblers held with pistol, Rs 4,06,770 in cash | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Oct 2: Police today recovered Rs 4,06,770 of stake money from 14 gamblers who were apprehended by them from a city hotel. A pistol along with two live rounds was also recovered from one of them. A police spokesman said that acting on specific information, police raided the room of a hotel in DPS lane near Shahedi Chowk and caught 14 gamblers. They were identified as Khursheed Ahmed alias Munna of Talab Khatikan, Shubham Mahajan of RS Pura, Nitin Sharma of Dalpatian Mohalla, Ankush Sharma alias Rinku of Nai Basti, Amit Gupta of Patel Nagar, Rohit Mehra of Sanjay Nagar, Nasir Ahmed of Dalpatian Mohalla, Vishav Mehra of Gummat, Ankaj Singh of Kachi Chawni, Rahil Malik of Dalpatian Mohalla, Naresh Kumar of Nai Basti, Gajan Kumar of Janipur Colony, Harsh Kumar of Channi Himmat and hotel manager Rajesh Singh of Ramban. Police said that total stake money of Rs 406770 was recovered along with playing cards being used for gambling. One pistol along with two live rounds was recovered from Amit Gupta, son of Chander Prakash Gupta. Proceedings under Gambling Act stand initiated against all the accused .The raids were conducted under the close supervision of SP city Shiv Kumar Singh Chouhan and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand. |
