Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 13: As the legislators in Jammu and Kashmir were locking horns with each other over beef issue and other controversies and a few miscreants were hoisting flags of the terrorist outfit IS, a forty five year old Kashmiri sportsman, Mushtaq Ahmad Zargar, who was representing India in Asia Power lifting championship at Sultan Kaboos Stadium Oman Muscat, bagged the gold medal making India and Jammu and Kashmir proud.
Mushtaq became the first Kashmiri to bag an international award thus showing the way to many youth who are busy in their endeavours to do something in life. People like Mushtaq, who have seen tough times due to the turmoil in the Valley are least interested in the politics and other insignificant issues. They yearn to do something in life and shine like a star.
Politicians and a few people who wait for a chance to vitiate peace are just a miniscule part of the population. They don't even comprise one percent of the state's total populace yet they call the shots and rake up such issues which disrupt the normal lives of people.
Its unfortunate that a few miscreants who get paid for raising IS, Pakistan flags and pelting stones have brought disrepute for all the Kashmiris and due to their misdeeds all Kashmiris are treated as suspects in the country and other parts of the world.
Draped in Indian tricolour Mushtaq received the gold medal and thanked everyone who supported him to achieve the feat. On the other had a few Kashmiri legislators had raised hue and cry in the legislature in Srinagar demanding that discussion should be held on Kashmir, another group was making noise about attempts are being made to scrap Article 35-A. A handful of miscreants had appeared in the old city and vitiated peace by hoisting IS and Pakistan flags, and resorting to hooliganism. These paid agents have become a nuisance for the entire Kashmiri society.
These people who want discussion on Kashmir and want Article 35-A to remain intact should see the writing on the wall as common people are least interested in such issues. They want to live a normal and prosperous life. Hate mongers need to bear in the mind that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and they should stop dreaming about Pakistan and Azadi.
Commoners in Kashmir have realized that they have been misled by the separatists and other unscrupulous elements for the past 25-years.
"Everyone in Kashmir is aware about the fact that gun has brought destruction and has ruined Kashmir. People are fed up of violence and Pakistan sponsored militancy. Even the shutdown called by separatists these days evokes no response. People have realized that their future lies with India and no one can change this stark reality," said an analyst.
He said that separatists and a few other people like Er Rashid are playing into hands of people with vested interests. "It's an established fact that separatists are puppets who dance to the tunes of their bosses sitting across the Line of Control," the analyst said, adding, "Er Rashid behaving like a separatist should be probed as people need to know in whose hands he is playing."
Many sportsmen would draw inspiration from Mushtaq Ahmed Zargar and would definitely try their best to ensure that they represent India in an international event and follow the footsteps of Zargar who brought laurels for his country and the state. "Kashmiris not taking separatists seriously has left them red faced. People showing indifference towards them has made them irrelevant. With each passing day more and more Kashmiris like Mushtaq have started identifying themselves with India."
