Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 18: Intervention of spectrum of the Pak telecom agencies is affecting mobile connectivity in the areas adjoin international border in Jammu.
The telecom service provider Aircel in Jammu has expressed its helplessness to give a clean connectivity to the areas of Jammu on International Border due to Pakistan's infringement in its wavelengths.
" Since Indian service providers have to maintain a stipulated distance from the border to erect telecom towers, the Pakistan's telecom towers are more closer to the border on their side that hamper clean connectivity to the customers in Jammu people residing near the IB," said Anil Gupta regional business head , North Aircel.
He said the company has listed its problem with the government of India and is waiting for the response to get the maintenance done.
"Clarifying on the Pakistan's interference into Indian domain of telecom network, Anil Gupta "Pakistan telecom services too have allocated the same spectrum to their telecom companies as the Government of India has given to our telecom providers. And since their companies do not have any guidelines for the borders, Pakistan companies have installed towers closer to IB while interfering into Indian territories," said Anil Gupta.
However, Gupta presented two options- "Either we should be provided with a new Band widths so that our telecom services could run hassle free or Government of India should talk to Pakistan authorities to maintain distance so that the interlock between the two could be reduced".
Aircel Regional business head was addressing a media meet over launching of Aircel's new internet scheme here today.
He said that since BSF jawans and other security personnel operating the borders too are using the Aircel telecom services, and are facing the similar problem, which cannot be rectified until both the countries' participate to solve the issue.
Meanwhile Gupta informed that Department of Telecommunication has recently started testing its bandwith frequency on borders and sooner it will be submitting its report to Government of India for perusal.
