Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Nov 18: The J&K Government is all set to curb separatist activities in the Valley and book various separatist leaders and activists under Public Safety Act (PSA).
The move comes in the wake of strong message from the Centre to the State Government to deal with separatists with an iron hand.
Early Times has learnt that the Union Home Ministry has asked the State Government not to allow any separatist leader to instigate protests and violence in the Valley.
Sources said that ahead of the visit of top Home Ministry officials to the State, the agenda of the meeting has been sent to the State dispensation, with action against the "trouble mongers" topping the list.
The police has been asked to act tough against the separatist leaders and protesters after the separatists called for strike against visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Srinagar on November 7.
Sources said that besides social networking sites, which would witness a thorough scrutiny, activities of those who are under the police radar would also be monitored.
"The Centre has taken a tough call against the separatist leaders and in no way shall allow any anti-national activity to take place in the Valley," sources said.
They said that action against those indulging in unlawful activities such as instigating people for protests will be taken besides those found disturbing law and order.
The police chief K Rajindra Kumar had earlier stated that there are some elements that drive people to hardships through their unlawful activities. "It can't be tolerated anymore and those involved in such acts will have to face action. We can't allow anyone to put people to inconvenience," the DGP said last week.
Meanwhile, there are also reports of police taking measures to counsel the stone throwers besides asking their parents not to allow their wards to perturb peace.
Besides making a comprehensive list of the youth who are involved in stone pelting, police is also identifying those persons who are instigating the youth to take such extreme and violent measures.
Sources said that apart from counselling the youth, their rehabilitation would also be among the priorities of the present regime that is striving to make the State relatively peaceful.
