JAMMU, Nov 22 : Erstwhile RSS pracharak and state ABVP president, MLC Romesh Arora is one among the race to become the next JK BJP president. Many people believe that stage is almost set to install him as the next state BJP president after the tenure of MP Jugal Kishore Sharma expires. "Romesh is among one the strong contenders for the party's top post," said an insider. Romesh a senior BJP leader was arrested under PSA during emergency in 1977 and again in 1979. In 1986, he had led an agitation against then chief minister G M Shah under the banner of Hindu Raksha Samiti. Following the agitation, Shah's government was toppled. A two-time BJP spokesperson, he was made incharge of the party's Kashmir affairs during the last state and central polls and made BJP's presence felt across the valley through his hard work. A stalwart of BJP ideology, it appears that he is in a strong position to occupy the top post.
