Asif Iqbal Naik11/23/2015 11:42:28 AM

Kishtwar Nov 22: In the modern era when man has landed on the moon and thinking of conquering the Mars, Tanta village of Kahara Tehsil of Doda District and its adjoining areas having population of nearly 10000 not only lacks basic facilities like health infrastructure, drinking water, quality education and many more including electricity.

While talking to “Early Times”, Social activist Shahnawaz Mir said that there are many villages of Panchayat Tanta where the public are still using kerosene lamps and the fire wood due to non availability of electricity and cooking gas. Other villages facing similar problems are Kusheythowha , Kuthal, Ganori, Wanipura, Draman, Bagran, Ghrat Nalla, Wathleab and Tanta B.

He said that though the department installed the transformer on the outskirts of the village, but did not provide electricity connection to it. He said that several times the matter was brought into the notice of government and are still approaching the present state government since last several months with regard to the problems faced by the people, but no action seems to have been taken till date by the present government as well.
“We knock at the doors of all the concerned department for redresser of our grievances including in front of the VIPs visiting in their area ,but we have been sidelined each time that clearly shows either the government is not interested to solve our problems or they are turning deaf ear towards their grevenicies, ” Said Shahnawaz Mir and urged upon the Power Minister to direct the concern department to take remedial action for providing electricity supply in his and other adjoining villages.
Another villager Manzoor Ahmed said that even officers like Chief Education officer Doda along with Principal H S S Malanoo and others visited the area which is the first time in history of the villagers that any dignitaries like CEO have visited and accepted the demand of the public for providing educational staff to Government High School Tanta, but nothing was done on ground.

He also demanded speedy construction of road from Kahara to Tanta which started during 2010 as the work is still incomplete without any reason. They also rued slow progress on bridge being constructed at Charwa and laid stress for construction of new road from Kahi to Kusheythowha and a bypass tunnel from Tanta Draman to Kota Koharangal for conveyance of the general public village Ladu Kansar, Drai, Chourni, Bhejja, Bhejar, Kota Rally etc during winter season.
” The area is quite far flung and there is only a high school in the area, added that after passing 10th class, the students had to travel 12 KM by foot to reach HSS Malanoo” said Manzoor Ahmed.

Tariq Ahmed said that the public of the area are facing acute shortage of drinking water since last 15 years despite availability of major water resources in the area, added that water supply scheme started 15 years ago has not been completed even today.
