DSP turns property dealer, makes crores | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 27: In what can be construed as the sheer misuse of police uniform, a controversial DSP, widely known as a property dealer in police circles, is alleged to have amassed a huge wealth by purchasing disputed properties at cheaper rates and then selling them on higher rates. He is also alleged to have acted as a mediator in several land deals and taken his share of the proceeds. He started the real estate business while he was posted in Jammu. In his capacity as SHO of various police stations, he purchased several disputed properties and minted a lot of money. He even had his share in various construction works in Jammu. However, after his promotion as DSP, he was transferred to some other place. This has, however, not at all affected his unlawful real estate business. Nowadays, he is involved in a big land deal in a peripheral area. As and when the deal was finalised, he would get lakhs of rupees as his commission, according to sources privy to the deal. The whole business was being done by him on phone, the sources added. Though some people had approached senior police officers with complaints against him, no action was taken against him because he "enjoys good rapport with them", sources said. He has been a part of several land deals in the city and on the outskirts, misusing his official position.
