Early Times Report
Rajouri, Nov 29: Belying claims of priority to the education sector, many government schools having high enrollment in Rajouri district have not been provided with subject wise teachers while many teachers in nexus with the senior education officials have managed their appointments in the schools near their houses irrespective of requirement.
In one such government middle school, 6 teachers have managed their postings to teach 8 students just to draw salary without any work.
The school in question is at Chajja under Lower Hathal Education Zone in Sunderbani tehsil. On November 27, Chief Education Officer along with ZEPO paid surprise visit to the school and found 8 students present and 6 teachers gossiping. None of the 8 students could answer simple questions asked by the CEO.
It was also found that during 2013-14 session 24 students were shown enrolled while 16 students were on roll in 2014-15 session and 14 were shown during current session.
After several complaints of casual and negligent approach of the teachers towards their duties and factiously increasing the enrolment of students, CEO recently directed Zonal Education Officer to pay surprise visit.
ZEO found only 5 students present in the school during surprise visit and accordingly informed the CEO. On November ,27 Chief Education Officer Ch Altaf Hussain along with Zonal Education Project Officer (ZEPO), Sunderbani visited the school.
Annoyed over the very poor academic standard of the students and casual approach of the teachers, CEO directed Malkiat Singh,M Sc (Mathematics) to report in high school at Dhaleri in Moghla Education Zone, Harjeet Kour MSc (Botany) to report to headmaster of high school at Dharoon and Gulshan Kumar teacher was shifted to primary school at Rajgarh.
Three ReT teachers namely Kulvinder Dev, Verinder Sharma and Ritu Khajuria were directed to improve the academic standard of the school and to increase the enrolment by continuing their services in this school.
CEO has stopped their honorarium till they improve the academic standard and ensured increase in the enrollment from next session.
"Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) has been directed to reflect the performance of these ReT teachers in their personnel files if they did't make efforts to increase enrollment, He was also asked to take their explanations with reasons for poor academic standard and enrollment" said CEO.
