Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 29: Despite BJP Ministers claiming that the two major projects of Jammu, Artificial Lake and All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) would be completed within stipulated time frame, there has been no progress on both the projects of vital importance for the region.
It may be recalled that just few months after coalition Government of BJP-PDP came to power, the Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammed Sayeed had announced that due to non feasibility of artificial lake, the government was going to shelve the project, which was sanctioned by UPA-II Government during former CM, Azad's tenure. He had also stated that AIIMS would be established in the valley, while IIT and IIM will be set up in the Jammu.
Source in I&FC department informed Early Times that despite the fact that Union Government had reiterated their commitment that the much hyped Tawi artificial lake project would be completed and also announced Rs 70 crores for artificial lake besides Rs 23 crores for diversion of six big nallahs which fall in Tawi River, the incumbent government of BJP-PDP and especially the executing agency, the Irrigation and Flood Control department hitherto has failed to submitted the Detailed Project Report to Union government.
Source further said that the previous Union government had confirmed this project in 2010 and decided the first deadline for completion of project as July 2013, which was later extended upto Dec 2013 and again to March 2014", sources said, adding that the last deadline was fixed as March 2015, but once again there were no efforts for completion of project.
"The commitment of incumbent BJP-PDP coalition government and particularly of BJP to these projects of huge importance for Jammu can be gauged from the fact that work on both these projects has not been initiated ever since assuming power.
