JAMMU, Nov 30: A six day long Inter - Regional POWERGRID Cricket tournament commenced here today. The tournament has been scheduled from November 30 to December 5.
Eleven teams from various regions of POWERGRID are participating in this tournament. The participating teams are Eastern Region-I(ER-I), Eastern Region-II(ER-II), Northern Region-I (NR-I), Southern Region-I (SR-I), Southern Region-II(SR-II), Western Region-I(WR-I), Western Region-II (WR-II), North Eastern Region (NER),Corporate Centre (CC), POSOCO and hosts Northern Region-II (NR-II).
The tournament was inaugurated by S K Sharma, Executive Director POWERGRID, Northern Region-II in presence of Meena Sharma President Shrishti Mahila Samiti, senior officials of POWERGRID and other guests.
In the inaugural match of the tournament Hosts NR-II defeated defending champions WR-II by 6 wickets. The brief scores of the match were: WR -II 109 all out, Rajesh Chaurasai 37 Asif 2/16, Sandeep 2/ 23 NR-II 112 in 19 overs Shafiq 34, Sandeep 31 not out. Man of the match: Sandeep Panwar

At Khalsa college grounds, NR-I defeated WR-I in a keenly contested match by 8 runs. The brief scores of the match were: NR -I 132 for 6 all out , Dipesh Gupta 37 37 Atul 2/7 WR-I 124 in 19 overs Om Prakash 31, Manoj Gokhru 5/9. Man of the match: Manoj Gokhru.
