Poonch, May 22: People here have expressed serious concern over the damage caused to the protection wall of SK bridge which was washed away in the September 2014 floods.
The protection wall collapsed because of its poor quality, they alleged and expressed doubts over the quality of work of the bridge that was in progress. Imtiaz Salaria of Poonch, Insaaf Movement's Javid Reshi PDF's Nishu Gupta held separate press conferences and expressed concern over the damage caused to the protection wall within an year of its construction.
"If the work quality of protection wall is so poor, what will be the quality of main bridge which is worth crores?" they asked.
They appealed to the higher authorities to investigate the matter and take action against the guilty officers. They warned to launch an agitation if the government failed to investigate the matter.
The bridge is a link between Poonch and Jammu and connects Mendher, Mankote, Balakote and Surankote with Jhulas, Salotri, Mangnar, Kuniyan, Bainch, Dalera and Khanaiter villages. |
