Bovine smuggler held, 34 animals rescued | | | Early Times Report RAJOURI, May 22: Police last night foiled a bid to smuggle bovines by arresting a smuggler and freeing 34 milch animals. During special nakas, which were laid by police at Kalidab bridge, Kheora and Badoon on a tip-off, a vehicle (JK02A/9692) carrying seven animals was seized by cops, led by Rajouri police station SHO Chaman Gorkha, at Badoon. The cops also rescued six more bovines which were being smuggled to the valley, police sources said. While other bovine smugglers fled the spot, one was arrested by police. Sources identified him as Mohammad Farooq, son of Wazir Hussain of Planghar. Chingus police post head, SI Mohammad Rafiq seized two mobile vehicles and rescued 15 bovine animals. Six more bovine animals were rescued which were being taken on foot. Bovine smugglers, however, fled the spot, taking advantage of darkness. Police have registered cases in this connection under sections 188 of RPC and 3 of PCA. |
