Rs 9400 fine realized from erring traders during special drive

rAmban, June 25: Taking cognizance of the issue of rising rates of vegetables and fruits across the markets of district Ramban, district administration today conducted a special market inspection drive.
The team of different officers realized Rs 9400 from erring traders. The joint team led by Tehsildar Ramban Gurpreet Singh and comprised of Executive Officer (EO), Municipal Committee (MC) Ramban, Zubaida Parveen, Tehsil Supply Officer (TSO) Ramban, Abdul Khalik and Naib Tehsildar, G H Sehmat carried out a surprise checking in Ramban market.
During the inspection, TSO compounded Rs 6400 whereas Municipal Committee imposed a fine of Rs 3000 from different defaulting shopkeepers. Checking squad also destroyed 50 kg rotten vegetables.
Shopkeepers were warned by the Tehsildar Ramban to desist from charging extra rate of eatables besides selling sub-standard commodities which could attract a penalty.
