2136 new electors enrolled under SSR-2016

Ramban, Oct 15: A total of 2136 new electors were enrolled in special camps held across the district under Special Summery Revision 2016 besides receiving 3626 applications for correction of existing electrol rolls. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ramban Mohammad Aijaz who is also District Election Officer personally monitored a camp held in a school at Govindpura Ramban today.
As far as the day long progress is concerned, Ramban constituency registered 1226 new electors and recorded 2200 forms for making necessary correction while as Banihal made enrollment of 910 as new electors and 1426 applications received in the shape of form 8. The special camps were held in all 218 polling booths in the district.
Penitently, all the enrolled individuals have to complete qualifying age on 01.01.2017 which is as per the instructions of the Election Commission of India and thereafter they will be eligible for excising their right to vote.
DC while inspecting nearby polling booths felt his satisfaction over the arrangements made by the election staff with the help of BLOs and members of political parties besides the cooperation shown by other concerned in making the special day camp successful and result oriented.
Interacting with teachers, students and representative of political parties, DC asked them to extend needful cooperation in making the special summery revision successful and also ensure the enrollment of genuine beneficiaries. He further said that error free voter lists can only be made if correct information regarding migration, marriage and death of the existing electors is provided and more important is the pivotal role played by the AWWs and ASHA in mobilising the general masses for needful enrollment.
Apart from election related work, the DC also assessed the learning level of students and passed instructions to the teachers for adopting pupil friendly methodologies for better learning and understanding of the subject matter.
