Early Times Report Kishtwar, Oct 15: In an alleged sexual assault case, the chief agriculture officer (CAO), Kishtwar, was today granted interim bail by the munsiff court. CAO Sunil Kapahi was yesterday booked by Kishtwar police after a woman employee of his department reported to police that he had allegedly sexually assaulted her. His counsel moved his bail application in the Munsif Court, stating therein that his client was innocent and was being unnecessarily dragged into the false case. He said being a district officer, his client's reputation was at stake due to the lodging of a false complaint by the woman employee against him. He alleged that the complainant was misguiding the court and had not presented the fact. He also told the court that the deputy commissioner, Kishtwar, was also probing the matter and assured that his client would cooperate in police investigation. After hearing him, Munsif Judge Khem Raj Sharma granted interim bail in favour of the accused who was later released by police after furnishing the surety bonds. The CAO has termed it as a political conspiracy. |
