Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 16: The neighbouring Pakistan might have announced a blanket ban on Bollywood movies in cinemas, but the private FM channels of Pakistan are still playing the track numbers of Bollywood films to keep their TRP high and alive among the listeners. One can easily tune-in to famous Pakistani FM Channels and listen to the gossips, chats and conversations related to the Bollywood actors, movies, besides tracks from famous and most-watched movies.
''Pakistan government may have attempted to keep its viewers away from their favourite Bollywood stars, but undoubtedly they cannot keep the hearts and souls of its people disconnected from their love towards the Bollywood industry,'' a senior journalist here said.
Ruing Pakistan for the step, the newsperson asserted that Bollywood fans on the other side of the border are not losing heart by tuning in to FM channels and requesting the RJs to play the songs of their choice, which clearly shows their love for India and Indian movies.
''Music and Sports are two mediums, which connect hearts and the people but unfortunately both ways, India and Pakistan have apart from each other despite the fact that India many times initiated to ease the bitterness prevailing,'' he added.
If the regular radio listeners are to be believed, some of the Pak based famous FM Channels comprising HumAwaz FM - Voice Of Hearts, Radio Pakistan, Punjab Rung FM 95, 94.6 Tehlka FM, Mast FM 103, Josh FM 99, FM DIL are among few, who in routine broadcast their programmes related to Bollywood masala. ''There is a class in the winter capital especially of senior citizens, who are still fond of radio in this world of technology and they also keep tuning the radio channels broadcasting Pakistani programmes, which have 70 to 80 per cent content related to Bollywood world,'' Vinay Malhotra, a cityite said.
''Pak Radio Channels like ban on movies in cinemas cannot afford to stop playing Bollywood programmes as they have to keep their TRP high,'' Nitish Arora, Programme Executive, Radio Kashmir Jammu here said.
Mr Arora said that programmes broadcast by Pakistan are not of that worth much famous and the music of theirs is not of that class, which can be enjoyed and thrill the listeners.
''It is only Bollywood related programmes, which are source of entertainment for the people in Pakistan either it is Cinema, Television or the Radio,'' he said and added that by banning Cinemas, Pakistan Government has already invited criticism from its own population.
''Either the programmes, discussions, gossips or even phone talks on Pakistan's FM Channels, all are having Bollywood stuff,'' Vikrant Sharma, Programme Head, Jammu, 92.7 BIG FM told UNI. Mr Sharma said that people in Pakistan are crazy for Indian Actors especially the stars, adding, ''actors like Salman Khan, Amir Khan, Shahrukh Khan, Akshay Kumar and Hrithik Roshan have great fan following in the neighbouring country and one can guess from the requests made to the RJs of playing Bollywood tracks.''
He further said that the entry of Pakistan actors in Indian television channels, Hindi films besides singers, music composers and even writers is enough to prove love for Indian industry across the border.Meanwhile a local said that not only in city but if one visits close to the Line of Control or International Border, not only the phone signals, the border dwellers can easily tune-in to Pakistan FM Channels to find out peoples' choice in their neighboring country through these radio channels having high frequency in these belts and they can be listened easily. India, Pakistan estranged relations intensified after terrorists strike in Army camp in Uri in which 18 soldiers attained martyrdom followed by surgical strikes by Indian Army.
