Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 17: MJR-47 (Movement for Justice for Refugees of 1947 from POK) has decided to observe Oct, 22 as Martyr Day in memory of all those who laid down their lives in the Tribal Raid of 1947 by Pakistan on state to annex the Jammu & Kashmir and make it part of Pakistan.
It was decided that as per past practice this year also special prayers will be organised in all the religious places like "Gurudwaras" and "Temples" on this day so that, we the offshoots of these Martyrs, pay our respectful homage to more than 45,000 people who got killed in this nefarious design of Pakistan but was not allowed it to succeeded.
Many members of organization, who had borne the brunt of this raid on the state, narrated the worst type of genocide which was committed on the innocent society of Muzaffarabad, Poonch & Mirpur & other part of the state.
There was so much of human bloodshed, many women burnt themselves alive to save their honour, children became orphans but they did not let the aggressor to reach Kashmir easily till Indian Army arrived on 27 Oct, 1947 after signing of the instrument of accession by the then Mahraja of J&K with Indian Union.
Members also expressed their anguish and despair that despite lapse of almost seven decades, we are still living with tag of refugees (DP's) and most of them are still living in refugees camps which were established way back in 1950.
Govts. of time have not done any justice to rehabilitate these DP's families has not settled permanently. Our long had led the state Govt. of the then NC- Congress alliance in 2014 to recommend the first ever Package to Central Govt for our settlement but till date with no action.
It is most disgusting that Govt. has not seriously prepared the package and updated the record of refugees of 1947.
Even out of 31,619 DP families 5300 families who settled in other parts of the country have not been included in the package recommended by the state govt.
Even Joint Parliamentary Committee on Home Affairs recommended package giving Rs. 30 lakh to each DP family, as an interim relief, reservation for wards of DP's in technical Institution and employment package has not been implemented.
The package of Rs 2000 crores announced by Narinder Modi PM, on Nov, 7, 2015 is not visible anywhere on ground except highlighting the announcement made but without firm action for its implementation or clarity which DP's are asking for releasing the amount announced.
The meeting concluded after taking decision that as per past practice a special annual programme will be organised any time in Oct-Nov, 2016 to pay tribute to martyrs as also to organise all the DP's for getting justice being delayed or denied so far.
Prominent people who participated in the meeting included, Dr- Padam Dev Ramin, Comrade Om Parkash, Bodh Raj Sharma, Krishan Lal Sudan, Harjit Singh, Raj Kumar, Suchwant Singh, Dalip Singh, Jaswant Singh, Mehta Raghbir Singh
