Mehbooba stands by Naeem, decides against delaying exams

Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 17: Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has made it clear that she will not be cowed down by the separatists agenda where students are being used as shield. She has made it clear that board exams for the students of the valley will be held as per the schedule in November.
Interacting with girl students in Srinagar she said the government doesn't want students to lose their academic year and is exploring the possibilities like curtailing of syllabus.
Her statement closes the propaganda unleashed by the separatists with their sympathisers in the media that students protests will force the government to extend the schedule of the exams and were personally targeting none other than the education minister, who incidentally has also been attacked by the protestors.
The carefully planned propaganda tried to pitch Naeem Akhtar against the CM Mehbooba Mufti so as to build the narrative that while Naeem is pushing for the schedule, the CM is looking other way. But, it all came down crashing, like their 100-day protests, as the CM made it clear that she stands by the decision of the education department.
The media in the valley, either by design or under threat, didn't carry as single item on the students willing to give exams but was solely focusing on handful of protestors, which were linking the exams to the settlement of the Kashmir 'issue'.
"The separatists camp with supporter from their quarter was unleashing the propaganda against the minister, but, Mehbooba was prudent enough to read between the lines and decided clearly against delaying the exams," said a top official.
Sources said this month is most crucial as many factors are counting in. First, there is confusion and divisions within the separatists camp over extending the strike 'calendar', secondly with the exams to be held as per the schedule the protests on the street will die down and with durbar moving out and winter setting in curtailing the normal activity, the separatists will have nothing to offer as a saving grace to explain the people about the loss of about 90 lives.
