Awareness campaign in Kishtwar concludes

Kishtwar, Oct 19: A two-day long awareness campaign organized by the Directorate of Field Publicity, (DFP), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (GoI), units of Doda and Anantnag concluded at govt. higher Secondary school Nagseni in district Kishtwar.
The campaign was aimed at creating awareness among rural masses on Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health (RMNCH+A) in high priority identified districts of J&K state. In addition to the scheme, special focus was also given to create awareness on Population stabilization, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Mission Indradhanush and others.
Dr. Mohd Yaqub Mir, District Health Officer, Major AS Balyal, Rashtriay Riffles, Dr. Umar, District Coordinator RMNCH+A, Dr. Nazir Hussain, M.O. Kishtwar, Sh. Prahlad Bhagat, Dy. CEO Kishtwar were the prominent among others who spoke on the occasion.
All the speakers laid stress upon educating rural masses about the importance of preventing different diseases so as to lead a healthier life and appreciated the efforts of DFP for organizing such programmes in far flung areas.
They desired that such informative programmes should be organized in other areas of the district to create ample awareness of the programmes of Govt of India among the rural population.
Asha workers, anganwadi workers, health workers, teachers, students, sarpanches, panches and other opinion leaders present in the audience were made aware about the importance of reaching the benefits of various schemes of Government of India at the grass root level.
All the opinion leaders and agencies relating to health were urged to reach every nook and corner of the district so that the target set by Ministry for Health and Family Welfare (GoI) is achieved by the year 2020 which aims at 100% immunization coverage to all children across the country and decreasing the mother and child mortality rate at time of delivery.
A rally was also flagged off by Major A.S.Balyan, Rashtriya Riffles which passed through various villages and spread awareness about RMNCH+A through slogans. A quiz was organized on the first day of the campaign Based on RMNCH+A and other health topics. Doctors from Health Department Kishwar and Rashtriya Riffles provided free health check-up for students, infants, adults, women and aged on both the days of the campaign. Free medicines were also given to the needy persons suffering from the ailments during the awareness campaign.
