Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 19: The Jammu University administration is likely to take up the case of Neeraj Sharma as Deputy Registrar whose selection purportedly is under scanner and was allegedly challenged in an inquiry as the item related to the selection of Neeraj Sharma as Deputy Registrar was presented in the last council wherein the vice chancellor reportedly had misled the council for his appointment of Deputy Registrar.
For inept, the beneficiary Neeraj Sharma was recruited as Assistant Registrar on 08-03-2003 and appointed as Deputy Registrar on 10-07-2006 which clearly indicated that the experience of the Neeraj Sharma was nearly three years while eligibility criteria for the post of Deputy Registrar is five years administrative experience as Assistant Registrar or equivalent.
The appointment of Neeraj Sharma was challenged and an inquiry was initiated in this regard and Higher Education Department was directed to inquire into the matter.
Following this, the higher education department sought opinion from Jammu University over the appointment of Neeraj Sharma as Deputy Registrar and the opinion of the University was endorsed by the Higher Education Department despite an inquiry.
On behalf of Jammu University, Registrar sent his opinion to the Under Secretary to Government justifying his experience in Vardmaan Spinning and General Mills Ltd (Ludhiana) and India Tourism Development Corporation, New Delhi.
Ironically, the higher education department sent the opinion of the Jammu University to the inquiry committee as it was directed to conduct the inquiry and on the basis of that opinion, The Vice Chancellor of the university allegedly misled the last council for his appointment as Deputy Registrar.
Sources said that a letter vide no GS-61 (Comp-JU) 09-15/4434 dated September 8, 2015, the detailed status report about the observations made by the Chancellor with respect to the recommendations of the committee which was constituted by the 73rd University Council to examine some of the observations of the enquiry committee earlier constituted by the then Chief Minister in the shape of table item was to be placed before the 79th University council on 23rd October, 2015 at Raj Bhavan, Srinagar.
The relevant material related to meeting couldn't be delivered due to imposition of curfew /restrictions in some parts of the District Anantnag resulting which the officer/ travelling by road in the official vehicle could not reach Srinagar, hence the documents couldn't be placed before the 79th University Council.
Now, the Vice chancellor of the Jammu is likely to present action taken report on the appointment of Neeraj Sharma as Deputy Registrar in his favour.
