Finally, FIR registered against 'ill-mannered' CEO Kathua | | | G S Asgotra Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 19: A FIR has been registered against Chief Education Officer (CEO) Kathua for insulting a headmaster in his office. Sources said that on the direction of the court, a case has been registered under section 352, 504 and 506 at P/S Kathua against the CEO, Balbir Singh, for "grave provocation, intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace and for criminal intimidation to his subordinates in front of their colleagues." On September 29, when a headmaster visited the office of the CEO to apprise him about 'wrong transfer' of a female teacher, the latter used abusive language. The incident was recorded by a teacher on his mobile phone. Later, the video went viral on social networking sites. On October 4, Early Times published a story on un-parliamentary language used by the CEO. "Ironically, the Education department rather than taking cognizance, tried to hush up the case," said a teacher wishing anonymity. He said the victimised headmaster repeatedly approached the local police station for registering an FIR against the CEO. But the police refused to do so due to political patronage. "Ultimately, the headmaster decided to knock the door of the court. The court directed the police to register a case against the CEO," sources said. Since his appointment as CEO Kathua, Balbir Singh has been in the limelight for wrong reasons. He has been accused of issuing backdate transfer orders, misbehaving with teachers, etc,. "But due to his proximity with two local influential ministers, nobody dared to stand in front of him," said another teacher. "It is first time when someone has taken a stand against this arrogant CEO," he added. |
