MHA team to visit Valley | | | Muhammad Mukaram
Early Times Report
Srinagar, Oct 19: With Kashmir gradually returning to normalcy after over 100 days of hartals, a high level team from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is all set to take a fresh assessment of the situation. "The team will prepare a detailed report of the current situation across the Valley and submit it to the Home Ministry," sources said. Pertinently, Home Minister Rajnath Singh has been frequenting Kashmir since the agitation began on July 8 after the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen militant Burhan Wani. In south Kashmir, for last two months the incidents of weapon snatching from cops have become cause of concern for the security agencies, sources said. "The team will also discuss the steps taken by the security agencies to prevent the local youth from joining militant ranks," sources said. "The MHA team will meet the top brass of the state government, army, paramilitary forces, and intelligence agencies and discuss the steps required to restore full normalcy and maintain peace in the state," sources added. They said the team will have detailed discussions with Director General of Police (DGP) K Rajendra, General Officer Commanding of Srinagar-based 15 Corps Lt Gen Satish Dua, and others. |
