S Tahir-ul Haq Early Times Report Baramulla, Oct 21: In its bid to bring back normalcy in the town, police arrested dozens of youth today for taking part in anti national activities and security forces foiled Hurriyat programmes which were supposed to be held after Friday Congregational prayers in Baramulla. According to sources, a joint team of police and army cordoned off few volatile areas in Baramulla town after which the security forces launched massive search operation to arrest the wanted stone Pelters in Almustafa Coloney, Suhial Coloney, Taki Sultan Drangbal, Faqirwani and other adjacent areas in old town. "Police have arrested dozens of stone Pelters today who were indulging in anti national activities and were creating law and order problem in the main town of Baramulla, said sources. However youth engaged security forces in a pitched battles after they resorted to teargas gas shelling and pacified the agitated youth. Meanwhile sources further said that police also foiled Huriyat programmes in various parts of Baramulla district. Scores of youth were arrested in Ushkara Baramulla after which there was a heavy stone pelting on security forces, said sources. |
