Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 28: JKPCC General Secretaries S. Manjit Singh(former minister) along with other congress leaders visited Jammu Govt. Medical College Hospital to meet the injured people in firing along the IB and LOC in R.S. Pura- Suchetgarh-Hiranagar sector.
They were astonished to see the miserable condition of Hospital and said that the Disaster Management Ward of the GMC Jammu has been totally collapsed and there is no proper arrangement for the treatment of injured people of border firing.
PCC leaders observed that the state government has been failed on all fronts. It has failed to tackle the situation in Kashmir Valley for the last several months and now the Govt. has miserably failed in Jammu to meet the situation arising out of border firing, especially the Health Dept. where several injured people are being discharged without giving them proper treatment. They said the six members of a family of R.S.Pura were severely injured in last night firing and they were crying for want of treatment. Unfortunately all six were the females who have been injured last night and till today they were running from pillar to post for Ortho care facility and no Ortho Doctor has visited the Disaster Management Ward till now. Several injured have splinters and the pellets have not been removed from their bodies. They said that a large number of people are being affected daily due firing across the border and the Govt. is duty bound to save the life and property of civilians but it is unfortunate that Govt. has failed to shift the civilians from the border to safe places and to provide basic necessities of life to them, besides providing them adequate relief and rehabilitation. The BJP which has been making tall claim for their nationalism and patriotism has been exposed fully in the State and in the Country. Their claims are false and hollow. The reality is that they have become a mute spectator and doing nothing for the people.
Congress leaders said that many people who were injured in the border firing have become permanent disabled. The Govt. should provide relief to these people as per their disability upto Rs.10 lakh for 100% disability and Rs. 20 Lakh to the next of kin of those who died in the firing.
