Chadoora locals aghast over relocation of college

Early Times Report

SRINAGAR, Mar 2: A foundation stone for establishment of Government Degree College was laid at Wathora instead of Chadoora in Budgam district for which it was sanctioned. An amalgam is against the relocation of Degree College, who said that they will protest till the order is not revoked.
The identified site at Wathora is also coming under road widening, as road from Chadoora to Srinagar has been approved for widening, and the futile exercise of foundation stone will not last long, said sources.
They said that recently Government sanctioned a Degree College for Chadoora which was a long pending demand of the whole area.
Government issued an order for establishment of new Government Degree Colleges in J&K, with reference to the State Administrative Council Decision no: 18/2/2019 dated 14/01/2019 and govt order no: 48-HE of 2019 dated 05-02-2019.
"Sanction is hereby accorded to establishment of new Government Degree Colleges during the year 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 in the following uncovered areas," reads the order.
The district administration relocated the college at their own level, there is no doubt that there is dearth of state land in Chadoora, but there is a plenty of private land available, and maybe we will donate the free land to the government for establishment of degree college, said sources.
Sources allege that the district officals without consulting the various groups. However people of Chadoora have proposed that if it is the question of free land then the land already identified for Bus adda in Chadoora in which almost 40 kanals of State land are available should be diverted for establishment of degree college and bus adda can be shifted to any other place, or any other site in consultation with the stake holders.
The land for bus adda could be identified within Chadoora limits where plenty of land is available.
