Inspector becomes bone of contention among two BJP leaders
One's favourite, another's eye sore

Early Times Report

JAMMU, Sept 1: An Inspector posted as Station House Officer (SHO) in one of the police stations of district Jammu has become a bone of contention between the two senior Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) leaders.
According to sources, the rift among two BJP leaders has turned out to be a hot topic of discussion in inner-party circles adding that now when the fissure has reached the BJP office, the task of sidelining the inspector has been initiated in a secret manner so that after removing the police officer, the wedge created among BJP leaders can be ended and to do away with the factionalism within the party.
Sources further said that this police inspector is basically from the Armed wing of the Police Department but he managed to get the lucrative posting as SHO with the help of a BJP leader (ex-MLA) adding that he has been assigned the duty of third police station while being posted in the district. "The inspector was earlier posted at a police station in rural area of the district but with the BJP leader's blessings he managed to secure a transfer from there and get a posting in the area of his political master," said sources.
"However, during his stay in the area of his political boss, the Inspector entered into a duel with another top-notch BJP leader over a land deal. The Inspector ignored the matter after his political master directed him to do so," sources added.
Sources further said that the episode infuriated the second BJP leader and got the Inspector transferred to another place adding that he was not only removed from the district but was also kept away from taking the charge of any police station.
"But the former MLA again helped the Inspector and backed him to the fullest as he did not allow him to be relieved by exerting his influence and pressure which ultimately paved way for the cancellation of the transfer order of the officer," sources said.
"After managing to cancel the transfer order, the ex-MLA ensured that his blue-eyed Inspector gets a police station in his own area. Currently, the Inspector is posted in a police station in the former MLA's area," sources added.
Sources said the support lent to the Inspector irked the BJP leader with whom the police officer had developed some dispute. The backing by one of the party colleagues caused a rift between the two BJP leaders which has now reached party office as well.
"When the senior leaders of the BJP made inquiries at their level, they found that there was a rift among the two party leaders due to Inspector. Therefore, the work of sidelining this police officer was initiated," said sources.
It is pertinent to mention here that several departmental inquiries are also going on against this blue-eyed Inspector. But in spite of that, he was posted as an SHO.
