Advisor Kumar inaugurates BLS Trainers Prog for police personnel at RIHFW Dobhiwan
Around 450 persons from JKP to be made master trainer for imparting skill based training to others

BARAMULA, SEPTEMBER 02:Advisor to Governor, K Vijay Kumar today inaugurated ‘Basic Life Support Trainers Programme’ at Kashmir Skill and Simulation Centre of Regional Institute of Health & Family Welfare (RIFHW) Dhobiwan.
This 3 day course is specially created by RIFHWfor imparting Basic Life Support (BLS) training to the Jammu & Kashmir Police personnel.
Financial Commissioner Health AtalDulloo, IGP Armed Vijay Kumar, DIG NKR Suleman Choudhary, Director Health Services Kashmir Dr Kunzes Dolma, Principal RIFHW Dr Arshid Rafi and other concerned officers were present on the occasion.
Basic life support (BLS) is a level of medical care which is used for victims of life-threatening illnesses or injuries until they can be given full medical care at a hospital.It can be provided by trained medical personnel and the components of BLS includes psychomotor skills for performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), relieving an obstructed airway and some other important skills.
Giving details of the programme, Principal RIHFW informed that this programme is specially designed for the persons of JKP including SDRF, Traffic Police, Armed, IRP and other wings. It was told that the trainees who are attending this BLS training programme here would become master trainers and will be able to train other people at district level.
Skill based training would be imparted to the trainees by the instructors of RIHFW and it would be ensured that after completion of 3 day straining programme, the trainees will be able to impart the skills to others, Dr Arshid informed.
Director Health Services Kashmir Dr Kunzes Dolma gave a brief of training and other activities that are being carried out in RIHFW.
Addressing the gathering especially the trainees and instructors, Advisor Kumar said that all effort should be made to make this programme success so that police personnel who act as first responders during all kind of emergencies be trained to save lives of people.
He asked the instructors to involve the trainees completely in the training programme so that they learn all the skills seriously and become a BLS expert. After 3 days of this training programme, everyone in the group should be able to save life of people during emergency times, the Advisor said.
The Advisor asked the trainees to practice the skills even after the completion of programme as 3 days are not sufficient to become master trainer.
While appreciating the efforts of the institute for imparting BLS training to the staff deputed for ShriAmarnathjiYatra, the Advisor said that many lives of the pilgrims were saved by the timely action of staff which were trained by the instructors at the centre. He also asked the Director Health Services to plan some courses for the doctors working in Police and other paramilitary forces.
The Advisor also interacted with the first batch of trainees from JKP and instructors of RIHFW and asked them to remain active and alert during 3 days of training period. He also enquired about the food and other facilities being provided to the trainees at the centre.
Speaking on the occasion, Financial Commissioner Health AtalDulloo said that this is for the first time that a special training programme is created by RIHFW for JKP to impart training to the police personnel in this essential life-saving skill set.
He said that around 17000 people have been trained under various programmes at RIHFW in the last 6 years and now the activities have been expanded involving other stakeholders in the process. Persons from health department are being regularly trained here including those who were deputed for ShriAmarnathJiYatra, he said adding that the institute has the capability to become an apex institute where quality training can be provided to all stakeholders.
FC Health further said that with this activity, a pool of master trainers would be created who can train other people at district and other level.
He further said that there is a target of imparting training to around 450 police personnel in different badges.
