Jammu, Aug 11: Nagrota Police recovered around 24 kg poppy straw which was being illegally smuggled in a truck bearing registration number JK02U/1275 at National Highway.
According to the Police officials police party from Jhajjar Kotli police station led by SHO Jhajjar Kotli Rajesh Khajuria during checking intercepted a truck on National Highway near Suketar, Jhajjar kotli. During thorough search of the vehicle, 23.850 kg poppy straw (bhukki) which was concealed in special cavities was recovered by the police. The driver and his associate, identified as Satnam Singh son of Gurbaksh Singh resident of Nanak Nagar and Jagjeet Singh son Jaswant Singh resident of Nanak Nagar were arrested on spot and vehicle was seized. In this regard FIR no 142/20 under Section 8/15/20/25/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Jhajjar kotli and further investigation taken up.
