| Cabinet expansion before annual darbar bove | | | | Bashir Assad
srinagar, Oct 16: With Chief Minister Omar Abdullah succumbing to Congress Party's demand for reservation for Scheduled Cast, Social Tribes and Women in Block Development Councils and the consequent deferment of the otherwise notified elections to the BDCs, the much delayed Cabinet expansion- cum- reshuffle is expected anytime before the annual darbar move.
If sources within coalition are to be believed, Tuesday witnessed hectic activities going on in among the coalition partners hinting at a possible expansion in the Omar Abdullah led coalition Government before the annual darbar move.
Sources said, the Congress High Command has given its nod to much awaited Cabinet expansion in Jammu and Kashmir and chartered senior leader and Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad to sort out the nitty-gritty. Sources close to Azad told Early Times that the Congress nominations for the induction in the Cabinet against the two portfolios of its quota presently lying with the Chief Minister have been finalized, however, sources refused to divulge into the details.

| Congress mum over Omar's indirect attack | | Statement on checking corruption..... | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 16: Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah is taking his grandfather, Sher-e-Kashmir especially as far as his dealing with Congress is concerned. He called the Congress workers `worms of gutter' and called for their social boycott in early 70s. The boycott was strictly enforced so much so that they (Congress men) could not get even four persons to take their dead to the graveyard.
But then things changed and the Congressmen suddenly became revered for him. In 1975, he assumed power with their support. However, the honeymoon did not last long and Sher-e-Kashmir was yet again `ditched by his worst enemy'. People close to the Sheikh family believe that Sher-e-Kashmir had...

| | | | Post cancellation of BDC polls, coalition on rocks....! | | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 16: Notwithstanding the ostensible posturing from both sides of alliance partners NC and Congress post developments related to BDC polls postponement that the ties are quite smooth and they are capable of pulling on the chariots of governance , the coalition it appears is on rock now. The die hard approach and firm stand on the issue by Congress is actually seen as the subtle way of confrontation and the first step in direction of establishing their position in the 'steering wheel'.
Sources said post sudden announcement of deferment of BDC polls, entire hierarchy of NC and its cadres down the line are quite demoralized , not entirely for the reason of ...

JAMMU, Oct 16: Even while the decision of postponement/cancellation of election of chairperson to Block Development Council (BDC) has been taken in the State Cabinet meeting held yesterday in Srinagar, the decision is likely to hamper the chances of victory of NC supported candidates.
"As the decision is being perceived as NC succumbing before Congress' demand of incorporating certain amendments in Panchayati Raj Act including reservations to SC/ST and women folk of the State, the main opposition Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) is all set to exploit the political situation here in the State describing the ruling coalition as non-committal and disloyal towards the aspira...

Srinagar, Oct 16: Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Ali Mohammad Sagar today said the 73rd amendment of the Indian Constitution will not be incorporated in total in the State to prevent dilution of Article 370.
