| Year after Aag Ka Dariya… | | On anniversary, Azad prays in Mecca | | | Early Times Reporter
Jammu | Nov 2
This day last year, when the present coalition government completed its four years and the Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad completed his one year, the occasion was marked with celebrations all over the state, public meetings and photo-exhibitions of developmental works.
At the main official function held at the majestic Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Hall, on the banks of Dal Lake on November 2, 2005, the Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad shared his experience in the following verse –Yeh Isq Nahin Assan, Ek Aag Ka Darya Hai Aur Doob Ke Chale Jaana Hai. He summed up the problems of Jammu and Kashmir ranging from corruption to conflict to unemployment in this famous couplet to the thunderous applause of the audience.
Interestingly, this year no celebrations, no public meetings and no photo exhibitions to mark the occasion. Not even the couplet to describe the situation. The Chief Minister, this time around, has preferred to seek spiritual solace and is off to Saudi Arabia.
An official spokesman of the Chief Minister said, "on the...

Jammu | Nov 2
With no apparent official communication between the Muftis and the Congress high command in New Delhi, the Defence Minister AK Antony seems to have emerged a new favorite of the embittered coalition partner Peoples Democratic Party.
Interestingly, though Antony appears in no mood to do the things as desired by the Peoples Democratic Party but he has learnt to speak a language which suits the Muftis and helps them to protest their image in the public. On one day Antony makes a statement in the situation and the next day PDP comes up with a tributary statement claiming that its stand has been vindicated.
It may be mentioned here that when PDP upped the...

| | | | Cozying up of arch rivals in PDP: Beig, Mir upsets Mufti's apple carts | | | | Early Times Special Correspondent
JAMMU | Nov 2
There are no permanent friends and foes in politics. Today's rivals become allies tomorrow and all options are kept open. Politics is the art of probables and availing of the opportunities, forging new combinations and permutations to suit the political expediency and interest of the parties concerned. Nothing proves this phenomenon better than the cosying up of two arch rivals in the PDP hierarchy in the state, Muzaffar Hussain Beig and Ghulam Hasan Mir, both vying with each other for supremacy in the party, almost ever since the formation of the PDP.
The two, who are the founder members of the party along with Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and ...
