Jammu, Dec 30: At 38, the National Conference president Omar Abdullah breaks the record of his father Dr Farooq Abdullah by becoming youngest Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir but he is not youngest yet in the country to reach highest position in any state.
With Omar donning the mettle, he becomes the third generation Abdullah to hold guard of state after his father Dr Farooq Abdullah and Grandfather Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah. Farooq had become Chief Minister first time in 1982 at the age of 45, youngest till then.
Born on March 10, 1970, Omar becomes the youngest Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir but not first in India. Present Defence Minister AK Antony was made a record by becoming youngest Chief Minister of any state in the country. He had taken over as Kerala Chief Minister in 1977 at the age of 37. Later, Prafulla Kumar Mahanta become Assam Chief Minister at the age of 31 in 1985 and Madhu Koda was sworn in as Jharkhand Chief Minister at 33 in 2006. Jammu , Dec 30: With severe cold and fog engulfing the district, normal life has been thrown out of gear. Due to persistent chilly and foggy weather conditions, hundreds of passengers have to face traumatic experience with most of trains running late, while on the other hand, the same has brought cheers among traders of woolen garments.
Dense fog early in the morning and cold winds blowing from last few days pushed the mercury further down in the region that has resulted in disruption of the movement of rail and road traffic.

Jammu, Dec 30: An occasion for the civil career aspirants to celebrate, the Jammu amd Kashmir Public Service Commission has issued notification for the Combined Competitive (Preliminary) Examination, popularly known as Kashmir Administrative Services.
As per the notification total no of vacancies are 398. Out of which Junior Scale of J&K Administrative Service has 210 posts, J&K Police (Gazetted) Services has 84 while c. J&K Accounts (Gazetted) services have 104 posts in it.
The aspirants will be able to get the forms from Jan 12 while the last date of submission

New Delhi: No one likes money to go missing. And it's harder if you can't even make a hue and cry about it. BJP finds itself in just such an
unenviable situation after its chief accountant reported that Rs 2.6 crore in cash had gone missing from the party's central office at 11, Ashoka Road.
The amount was taken, clean as a whistle, from a "tijori" (safe) in a small room to the back of the party headquarters, not far from BJP president Rajnath Singh's office. The theft came to light on Friday, when the office reopened after Christmas holiday, causing consternation in BJP circles.

Jammu, Dec 30: The high voter turnout in Jammu and Kashmir is though being celebrated across the country but there is no face saving for at least 36 small and big political parties which could not get any seat and more than 1100 candidates who even lost their security deposits.
