While three more bodies were exhumed – two from Ajas and one more from Kangan – and DNA samples for testing taken before handing over the bodies to the victims' families, police today arrested the former SSP Ganderbal, Hans Raj Parihar, and the former DySP operations, Bahadur Ram, in Srinagar. Meanwhile, massive anti police protests took place at Ajas. At Kangan, protesters stopped exhumation demanding media presence while exhumation went on.
With the latest arrests, the number of policemen arrested in the innocent civilian cases has gone up to ten. Police sources, however, say that two civilians have also been arrested in this connection and it is on their identification that graves across the whole belt ranging from Bandipora to Kangan are being opened for exhuming bodies.

Jammu and Kashmir Police today arrested former senior Superintendent of Police Ganderbal, Hans Raj Parihar and Dy. SP Bahdur Ram in the Abdul Rehman Padder missing case under section 364, 302-RPC. With the arrest of these two senior officers the total number of policemen has gone up to four as ASI Farooq Ahmed of Ganderbal police and Farooq Ahmed Padder posted in District Police Lines Srinagar have already been arrested. This is in the background of Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad’s announcement that the guilty cops in Mr. Padders’s case of whatsoever rank are positioned, will be booked and brought to law for punishment.

In a successful operation, Sopore Police has arrested two LeT Militants wanted in number of militancy related incidents.
Two LeT militants namely Mohammad Rafiq Zaqi @ Janbaz, son of Mohammad Sultan Zaqi, resident of Baba Yousuf Sopore and Sajad Ahmad Daga, son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Daga, resident of Khushal Mattoo Sopore have been apprehended by Sopore Police.
Both the militants were wanted in several militant activities. Rafiq Zaqi @ Janbaz is a category “C” militant and is one the Salfi group members of LeT. Pertinent to mention here is that Salfi Group Commander was eliminated on 1st of January, this year

After the exhumation of Padder's body yesterday, the special investigation team assisted by forensic experts from Chandigarh today exhumed the body of Nazir Ahmad Deka in presence of his wife. Deka was allegedly killed in February 2006 in a fake encounter after he was picked up from Lal Chowk area while selling Itter.
While forensic experts took DNA samples from Deka's body and his one year old son to biologically ascertain that body was that of Deka, thousands of people today protested near the site of exhumation while demanding that killers be punished. Deka's body was later sent to his native village Desu in Kokernag area of Anantnag district for burial.
