JAMMU, FEB 28 A top Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) commander has been allegedly eliminated by Jammu and Kashmir police this morning. Police has claimed that it has successfully foiled militants’ plan of mounting a fidayeen attack on Raj Bhawan and MLA hostel in Jammu by successfully eliminating one of the most wanted militant commander of Lashkar-e-Toiba, Abu Tallah in an exclusive operation in Rajwalata forest under the jurisdiction of police station Billawar in Kathua district. Giving information of the exclusive operation carried out by a special operations group, Inspector General of Police Jammu range SP Vaid told reporters in a press conference,” as per our information Abu Tallah was planning a fidayeen attack in two places in Jammu i.e. Raj Bhawan and MLA hostel and was expanding his area of network in Jammu and Kathua districts. JAMMU, FEB 28 According to Divisional Commissioner Jammu Mr. Pramod Jain, Air Force on the behest of Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad today arranged air sorties from Jammu to Srinagar to airlift stranded passengers on account of national highway blockade at Panthal and delaying of road clearance for traffic owing to incessant rains. Mr. Jain who is overseeing the airlift operation said that 1151 valley bound stranded passengers have been airlifted by the Air Force from Jammu to Srinagar by this evening. NEW DELHI, FEB 28 Finance Minister, P Chidambaram, has announced some relief to tax payers, especially in view of what he has termed as the "cooperation they have extended" to the Department of Revenue. Presenting the Union Budget proposals for the year 2007-08 to Parliament on Wednesday, the Finance Minister said that the government "is committed" to tax regime which helps growth and rewards honest taxpayers. Chiudambaram announced that the Income Tax limit will not to be changed and there will be a one per cent cut in Central Sales Tax. BL KAK NEW DELHI, FEB 28 Anxiously-awaited official document, better known as Union Budget, for the year 2007-08 is out, with the Finance Minister, P Chidambaram, presenting the UPA government's mid-term report card on the economy in Parliament on Wednesday. The Finance Minister said that the plan expenditure for next financial year commencing April 1 is estimated at Rs 205,100 crore, which is 32 per cent of total expenditure. Non-plan expenditure for 2007-2008 is estimated at 435,421 crore rupees, an increase of 6.5 per cent over the current fiscal.
