Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 15: Mr. N. N. Vohra, Governor, has emphasized the crucial importance of establishing Central University of Jammu as a centre of excellence in teaching and research alongside focusing on ethical and moral values, in consonance with our glorious pluralistic ethos, to produce mature and a balanced personalities who would meet arising challenges and contributing to nation building. The Governor, who is Chancellor of the Central University of Jammu, was chairing the first meeting of the first Court of the University, here today. Referring to the establishment of this upcoming University, the Governor observed that the Members of the Court are a very distinguished group of people drawn from varied arenas of expertise who will provide guidance regarding the approaches to be followed in establishing this varsity on a sound footing to be able to impart quality education of world standards. PATTAN: Minister for Agriculture, Mr Ghulam Hassan Mir today visited Chak Serri Pattan this morning to express sympathy with the fire affected families whose houses were gutted in fire incident during intervening night of April, 12 & 13, 2013. Five families rendered homeless in the fire incident. The Minister was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Baramulla and other senior officers. During the visit, the Minister distributed 5 cheques of Rs. 5 thousand each, blankets and kitchen sets among the affected families as an assistance under Red cross fund.
